IO172

6-Channel RTD, Thermocouple & Strain Measurement I/O Module

The IO172 I/O module offers versatile support to measure temperature and strain using ungrounded thermocouples, resistive sensors such as resistance temperature detectors (RTD), thermistors, and strain gauges.

Its 6 channels can be configured individually for any sensor type, and predefined parameter sets are available for the most common sensor types.

The IO172 comes with a dedicated terminal board that allows individual wiring schemes to be implemented for each channel.

The module can perform cold junction compensation, measure cold junction temperatures and can be used for testing workflows in various industries.

For simplified wiring, an optional terminal box with an integrated SE95 thermal sensor for cold junction compensation can be purchased together with the I/O module.

Key Features

Thermocouples Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD) Strain Gauges
Measure the following thermocouples: B, S, R, T, E, N, J, and K Measure the following detectors: NI1000, NI500, NI100, PT1000, PT500 and PT100 All strain gauge types supported
Cold junction compensation performed inside a dedicated terminal board Measurements are ratiometric and done using an onboard high- precision reference resistor Quarter, half or full bridge circuit configurations may be used. Quarter and half bridges must be completed outside of the I/O module

Mean time between failures (MTBF)* 1,020,000 hours
MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) - MTBF values shown are based on calculation according to MIL-HDBK-217F and MIL-HDBK-217F Notice 2; Environment: GB 20°C. The MTBF calculation is based on component FIT rates provided by the component suppliers. If FIT rates are not available, MIL-HDBK-217F and MIL-HDBK-217F Notice 2 formulas are used for the FIT rate calculation.
